Located
on Manhattan’s historic Club Row between
Fifth and Sixth avenues, this handsome red-brick
hotel was formerly a private club and sanctuary
for New York’s power brokers. Today,
it offers a discreet haven for executives,
modern power players, and entertainment figures.
A black-and-white abstract painting by New
York artist Giglio—a friend of the owner—and
a lipstick-red table topped with art books
highlight the diminutive lobby.
This
New York City hotel offers
a club-like ambience a half-block
from the Theater District
and Fifth Avenue shopping.
The on-site restaurant, DB
Bistro Moderne, showcases
innovative French-American
fare amid dramatic decor.
The Tea Salon serves blended
teas, petite sandwiches,
and warm scones with double
Devonshire cream. The hotel
provides complimentary access
to the New York Sports Club,
three doors away, and a complimentary
library of CDs and DVDs for
use in guestrooms.
This
nine-story Midtown New York City hotel
has 65 guestrooms, all with complimentary
high-speed Internet access. Beds are dressed
in 350-thread-count Italian Frette linens,
oversized down pillows, and down comforters.
Full-length mirrors conceal TVs, appearing
at the touch of a button. DVD players and
minibars stocked with Dean & DeLuca
delicacies are in the closet. All-in-one
remotes control lights, temperature, and
the entertainment system. Chocolate-marble
baths have telephones, CD/DVD/TV speakers,
Frette robes, Hermès toiletries,
pedestal sinks, oversized towels, and bidets.
New York–themed wall decor includes
original playbills, antique maps of the
city, or Manhattan-related news clippings.
Special touches include copies of city
guidebooks for guests’ use. A complimentary
library of DVDs and CDs is at the front
desk.
The
interior was designed
by Jeffrey Bilhuber,
whose clients include
Vogue editor Anna Wintour,
David Bowie, and Michael
Douglas. Traditional
materials such as bronze,
silvered mica, cork,
and limestone blend
with modern design
in a decor that Bilhuber
refers to as New American
Classicism. The hotel’s
acclaimed restaurant,
DB Bistro Moderne,
is the creation of
star chef Daniel Boulud. |
