It makes sense that a city only 12 miles long and 2 miles wide, and packed
with an extraordinary concentration of culture, diversity and history can
only hold so much. Naturally, a city like NYC, brimming with greatness,
overflows into its surrounding areas.
The areas surrounding New York have absorbed "The City's" richness
and sophisticated metropolitan ways into their more laid-back character
and developed a distinct personality of their own.
Venture
through the Hudson River Valley towns of
Tarrytown and Fishkill. Retrace the steps
of the area's first settlers by visiting
historic landmarks here. Take in the sites
of this wooded valley, high above a serene
river, and indulge in cosmopolitan cuisine
countryside.
The areas surrounding New York City airports also provide an interesting
alternative to staying in the city. While a convenient distance from Manhattan,
they are accessible to many attractions in Long Island. Includes: Flight,
Hotel, Taxes & Fees.

New
York City, NY - You-Wanna-Piece-a-This?
Come on, we dare you to try to "make it" in the city that never
sleeps-mostly because there's so much to do!
Place we love, even if it is touristy: We don’t care if
it's full of tourists--New Yawkas embrace Central Park's 843 acres as a
dream backyard with everything from a full-size zoo and lake to Adirondack-style
bridges, rowboat rentals, and a rocky waterfall. There's even a castle--not
to mention a hand-carved, wooden carousel, a children's Alice in Wonderland
sculpture garden, and dozens of museum-worthy bronze statues. We simply
can't get enough of this place.
Best excuse for packing a coat and tie: Dapper men don top hats
and sophisticated ladies even break out the gloves to experience opera
at its best in the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. As the famous
Austrian crystal chandeliers rise to the ceiling and the curtain opens
before classics such as La Boheme or Aida, you'll be partaking in a timeless
New York tradition.
Editor's favorite watering hole: You could join the crowds at
the bars downtown, but it doesn't get more authentic than Russian Samovar–a
Theater District haunt with live cabaret and the best flavored vodkas outside
of Moscow. For an upscale, but kinky, Graduate vibe, saunter into the Philip
Johnson-designed Four Season’s restaurant in the Mies van der Rohe
Seagram Building.
Chill-out spot: Take in the best views of the Manhattan skyline
while crossing the Brooklyn Bridge from New York's Financial District.
Reward yourself with a slice of Grimaldi's coal oven pizza at the end of
the rainbow on the Brooklyn side. (Dodging Brooklynites on bicycles on
their way home is part of the fun.)
Break the bank dinner: For comfort dining at its finest and most
expensive, NYers in-the- know clamor for a reservation at Gramercy Tavern,
a warm and welcoming New York landmark delighting palates with New American
cuisine staples such as filet mignon and paprika-rubbed quail atop buttery
polenta.
The real deal: Back when Harlem was the capital of New York nightlife,
the Cotton Club was the hub of the jazz scene. Today locals and jazz lovers
gather again for live music at the historic Lenox Lounge, fried chicken
and waffles at Amy Ruth's, and casual jaunts around Sugar Hill's iconic
brownstones. Includes: Flight,
Hotel, Taxes & Fees.
Touch down in New York for a weekend as a flaneur, the ambling dandy of
metropolitan France in the 20's. Drop your valise with the bellboy, check
into your luxury room, and take a moment to freshen up. Put on your bowler
hat or your Grace Kelly scarf, and hang your umbrella in the crook of your
arm. Take your sweetheart's hand in yours and stroll Fifth Avenue into
the heart of Gotham.
Do not use your time wisely. Walk slowly, meander even. Do not let the
pace of the city alter your leisurely gait. Charm each other. Stroll into
Tiffany's, wander the robber-baron art collection at the Frick. Stop for
an irreverent mid-day cocktail in the Plaza's Oak Bar. Sleep in to decadent
hours, lounge in your sumptuous terry robe. This is your New York Includes: Flight, Luxury
Hotel, Taxes & Fees.
